Ivan was admitted as a Solicitor in 1960 and then as a Barrister in 1962 after completing his LLB degree at the University of New Zealand (Canterbury College) after which he was employed as a litigator for several years. He then practiced on his own account in general practice including part time lecturing in law at Lincoln University before amalgamating with another firm then joining Cameron & Company as a consultant in 2002.

His areas of work include buying and selling residential property and businesses, subdivisions, trusts, estates, elder law, commercial leasing

He has been a member of various committees of the Canterbury District Law Society and is an active member of various community groups and is a past president of the Rotary Club of Hornby.

Ivan enjoys spending time with his family, reading, music/arts, skiing and walking.
